This course will cover basic concepts and misconceptions surrounding wills and the probate process, specifically targeted toward practicing in low-income communities. Topics Include:

To Will or Not to Will - Including nomination of guardians and executors, discussion of new clauses, electronic data/social media, and more

How and Why to Bypass Probate - Advance Directives, Transfer on Death Affidavits for Home & Car

Be Kind to your Family - Disposition of earthly remains, prepaid funerals, guardianship, and how to keep peace in the family

The Ethics portion of this CLE will consider the many ethical, legal, and practical challenges that accompany both assisting pro se litigants and providing pro bono representation. We will discuss barriers and resources for pro se litigants, cultural competency, pro bono opportunities, and more.  LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED!
